The House
Welcome to the house at The Old Rectory in Peasmarsh. It is aligned with its longitudinal axis more or less 25° east of north so call it NNE. For ease of reference that axis is taken to be 'site' north so that the elevations can simply be referred to as that of the closest cardinal point. The elevation that faces ESE, for instance, is therefore called the east elevation.
The mid 16th century core is essentially hidden today but can be identified by the shingle cladding of that part of the house and the associated steeply pitched roof :
This is a view of the west elevation taken from almost true north on a drear day in early May 2015.
A southern range was added when the building was substantially refurbished and enlarged in the 1930's. It stands four-square and massive :
This is a view of the south elevation in 2015. Since then an orangery has been added.
